Winter Wonderland Party: 7 year old boy and 9 year old girl.
Since this is after Christmas, the theme is snow and snowmen. We will decorate with dark and light blue and white...used homemade snowflakes to hang from the ceiling and blue christmas lights in the dining area where the cake will be. The invitations were made with snowflake scrapbooking paper from Michael's which on the front in white paper on the bottom that looked like snow we wrote "our birthday's here...are you listenin" Down the Lane...snow is glistenin'...then when opened it had the party info and at the bottom we wrote, Bring your scarves, hats, and especially gloves...you might need them!...Everyone will be excited since we live on the coast and we don't get real snow. We will buy shaved blocks of ice from a fish packer on the shore and have the kids make a headless snowman that we put "buttons" on and each kid, when they are ready, will get behind it with his head in place of the snowmans with a top hat on and I will take a picture which will go in the thank you cards. The kids will divide up into two teams and each make a snow fort, which will then protect them from the snowball fight. We will have an old fashioned snow cone machine so they can enjoy feasting on snowballs. I will draw a large snowman body on butcher paper and have cut out eyes, nose, mouth, hat, scarf, buttons, etc. to play pin the man on the snowballs game. We will also have a bounce house for the kids to go in at their leisure. We bought many snow themed favors from Oriental Trading Company...like snowflake cups with straws, snow putty in snowflake container and snowflake candy cups. We will do a snowflake craft. I bought thin wood cut out snowflake which already have a hole in the top to use as an ornament...but I had our kids paint each one white on both sides and then bought blue and white irridecent small beads for each to glue on and have already put a cord through each one that they can wear as a necklace or cord it smaller to hang on their backpacks. I also have glitter face paint pens that I will paint snowflakes on each child cheek. If there is time we may have a snowball relay race where with two teams and a box in front of them and one full of cottonballs about 10 feet away each child will, using a straw, run to the box and get the cotton ball and bring it back to the teams' box. We do themed parties every year for the kids and love planning it all...this one will be lots of fun!
