Snowflake Winter Party
For my daughter's 8th birthday in January, we cut invitations from a snowflake cookie cutter on white cardstock and printed them on the computer. For decorations we cut out many snowflake shapes and had them on the walls and the tables. We had the party in our church's gym and had all the girs bring their roller blades, which we turned into ice skates by cutting slits in the bottom of men's tube socks and slipping them over their roller blades. When the girls were tired of skating, we had a paper fight with old newspaper balls, which at clean-up time turned into a decorated snowman by stuffing and stacking them into 3 white trash bags and adding the his hat, face, and buttons. Each girl had her picture made with the birthday girl and the snowman. For table decorations, we covered the tables with cellophane printed with snowflakes, found at Garden Ridge, and added our homemade snowflakes with each girl's name for a placemat. The cake was cut into a snowflake shape, iced with cool whip, and sprinkled with edible glitter. For party favors, the girls took home their ice skate socks, picture with snowman and birthday girl, and a goody bag with different printed snowflakes. The girls enjoyed it all - especially the ice skating!
