Welcome to the Wonderful Land of Oz....... For our daughter's 4th birthday, we went with the Wizard of Oz theme. It was really a lot of fun and everyone just had a great time! On the outside
of our house we had a few decorations leading to the party. I had made a tornado with a picture of Dorothy's house on it. So when the wind blew the tornado spun around and it looked like
Dorothy's house was in the air (this was attached and hanging from the roof). Then there was a yellow brick road sign that said "Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Makayla's 4th Birthday
party". We had used yellow chalk to make the yellow brick road, halfway up the walkway and then the other half we used a yellow tablecloth with the bricks drawn on it (this way chalk
wasn't brought into the house). We had the Wizard of Oz soundtrack playing outside as well. We also placed the witches legs under the house. On the front door I made a sign and hung it over
the doorbell, which said "Bell Out of Order Please Knock". It looked just like the one in the movie. As you walked into the house, the guests were once again walking on the yellow
brick road. We had a huge rainbow in the living room wall (it took up the whole wall, length wise). Under the rainbow I made a banner that read "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". There
were also pictures of the characters that I printed, along with sayings on them. I had the following: the Wicked Witch as she was melting saying, "I'm melting, melting", the
Scarecrow saying, "If I only had a brain", ruby slippers, saying "There's No Place Like Home", Tin Man saying "If I only had a heart" and the Lion saying
"If I were King of the Forest". Then on another wall we had made the Emerald City with poster board, I covered the entire city with green glitter. I had also made a yellow brick
road leading to the Emerald City (left over yellow table cloth). On the yellow brick road I had purchased pictures of the characters and had them placed as Dorothy had met them on her journey
to see the Wizard. I also had made red flowers from crepe paper and had a "field of flowers" before they entered the Emerald City. This "city" decoration took up most the
wall also. Everyone just LOVED this!! Along our plant shelves I had Makayla's Wizard Of Oz Barbie Dolls. There was also the Hot Air Balloon, more crepe paper flowers (in baskets), as well as
Toto. We also had used yellow and green streamers, as well as pink and The Wizard of Oz streamers and balloons to decorate the house. We also had purchased the Wizard of Oz tablecloth and
centerpiece (Emerald City, with all the characters). There was also a "Happy Birthday" Banner that we found on the Internet (it was the yellow brick road, happy birthday in green
letters along the yellow brick road, and the characters where on it to. I had made the cake to look like the Emerald City (1 11x13 pan & 2 round pans on top, with upside down sugar
cones). I used vanilla frosting with green food coloring to frost the cake and the cones. I also rolled the cones in green sugar and also sprinkled the cake with the green sugar. I also made
a yellow brick road on the cake (vanilla frosting with yellow food coloring). In the front of the cake I used Makayla's Wizard of Oz figurines. We also purchased the Wizard of Oz Candle and
had that on the cake. Everyone just loved the cake; they thought we bought the cake! I must admit, I was very impressed on how the cake came out! The only "game" we had was a Hot
Air Balloon Piņata, since we had several young children. Makayla wore her Dorothy costume from Halloween, as well as her Ruby Slippers. For the goodie bags, I printed out Wizard of Oz
coloring pages, rolled them up, and tied them with rafia. We purchased Wizard Of Stickers, plastic cups, party hats and blowouts. We also had the little bottles of wedding bubbles, I made
labels with a picture of Glinda, some bubbles and labeled them "Glinda's Bubbles". Also in the goodie bags were Ruby Slippers. I purchased the clear glass slippers at the party
supply store; spray painted them red and covered them with red glitter. I sprayed them with hair spray so the glitter would not fall off. These also were a big hit! Once again, they thought I
purchased these! We really put a lot of hard work into this party and it was well worth it! Makayla had so much fun at her 4th Birthday party; she wants to do the Wizard of Oz again for her
5th birthday! Good thing I saved everything from this party! Here is where I found some of the Wizard Of Oz stuff on the Internet; coloring pages,
