This was for my daughter's 5th birthday. My favorite idea is for a take home craft project. I found plastic shoes at the party supply store that are intended to be used to decorate a wedding
cake. They came in white or pink. Only about 29 cents a piece. Perfect for a ruby slipper. We spread plastic Oz tablecloths on tables and the kids painted white glue on the pink shoes with
small paintbrushes, then had a ball sprinkling red glitter all over the shoes. My husband predrilled 2 holes on the back of the shoe to thread a red glittery ribbon through to make necklaces,
you could make a Christmas ornament as well or just use as a decorative piece. The girls loved this. While half of them did this the other half decorated plain white lunch bags with Oz
stickers, heart stamps, rainbow stickers, flower sticker/stamps (poppies)and more red glitter and glue. I've also see Oz stamps on the internet that would be fun too. Then we switched groups
so we had smaller groups working on each project. After that we played Pin the Heart on the Tinman. A teacher friend of mine copied a picture of Tinman onto a overhead transparency then
traced and enlarged onto large paper. You can cut out hearts, add their names or allow guests to do at one of the craft tables. Also played game like hot potato using a stuffed Toto we had to
Oz soundtrack. National ice cream store has Oz edible image they scan onto a cake. Also invited guests to dress as an Oz character. Girls this seem to love dress up!
We also found a rainbow piņata. In their decorated goodie bags the guests received an Oz coloring book, $1 at the dollar store, a Glenda magic wand, rainbow vanilla wafers and Oz stickers and piņata candy. Party lasted 2 1/2 hours.
