For my daughter's fifth birthday we had a Wizard of Oz party. First we had a yellow brick road made out of construction paper leading from the front door to the back yard.
We made party hats out of funnels and painted them silver to look like the Tin Man. We played pin the heart on the Tin Man. We played musical chairs to the Wizard of Oz soundtrack. I made Wizard of Oz bingo cards with pictures of objects from the movie like a broom, a witches hat, a funnel, apples, etc. We also made a bean bag toss with a picture of a witch and the bean bags went into the witches mouth. For food, I made food that was talked about in the movie. We had hot dogs (the professor was roasting them in the beginning of the movie), corn on the cob (the scarecrow was found in the corn field), I made melted witch punch out of any kind of green juice or soda with a black hat on top. For party favors, I made a copy of the soundtrack to the movie on cassettes. I also made chocolate lollipops with the lion, Tin Man and Dorothy. I found heart stickers, and I found a picture of Toto for the kids to color and rolled it and wrapped a piece of red ribbon to make it look like a diploma. Also I bought bottles of bubbles and made labels with "Glinda's Bubbles" on it. We had a great time and I can't wait to do another one.
