My daughter turned 3 in July and is in love with the Wizard of Oz. That was all she talked about.  So we were going to do a Wizard of Oz party.  I made the invitations on my computer. The invitation had on the cover the picture of the emerald city, Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow. For decorations we turned a washing machine box into Dorothy's house that fell onto the Wicked Witch.  We painted it and put a sign on it that read Dorothy Gale of Kansas lives here. We had legs with red ruby slippers coming out from under the house. Everyone thought it was so cute. On our porch I had a yellow brick road leading everyone into the house. We gave the boys ribbons with medals on it to represent the courage that the Lion received. The girls received beautiful magic wands made out of a wooden stick and we placed a metallic star on the end that we glittered. We did face painting, played pin the tail on Toto. The kids loved this game.  Then we played Pass the Wicked Witch game.  I had all the children sit on the yellow brick road that I made out of yellow bulletin board paper. My daughter had the Wizard of Oz bean bags dolls from the Warner Brothers store so I decided to use the witch to play the game.  Whoever was holding the witch when the Wizard of Oz music went off they got out of the circle. Until one player was left.  Next we were off to the Tin Man piņata.  I made the Tin Man piņata out of grocery store brown paper bags.  I stuffed them inside of each other (you only need 2 or 3). Then I sprayed painted the bag silver and added the picture that a friend drew for me of the face of the Tin Man. I left the top of the bag open but folded down the bag about 2 inches and punched holes for the rope to pass through. It was a big hit.  The cake had the emerald city and the yellow brick road on it.  My yard was decorated with signs that read "There is no place like home."  "Somewhere over the rainbow" and I had a rainbow on that sign. I had pictures drawn of the Lion and Scarecrow and the Oz logo that I did in emerald glitter. Around the yard I had an apple tree and trees to represent the forest. Everything looked great. We served hotdogs and chili, chips and potato salad.
