Our daughter is turning 2 and we are giving her a Wizard Of Oz birthday party. She is still too little to let me know what she really wants, so I am using my own childhood wishes. Wizard Of Oz is more my era than hers. I started with the invitations which I designed myself on my computer. They are made to look like theater tickets or concert tickets. They say We're Off To See The Wizard" and have details such as Row 2 Section 2 One Day Only No Refunds No Exchanges etc.. They were printed on card stock paper and cut to size to look exactly like a real ticket would. For the favors each guest will get a small picnic basket (like Dorothy's) with a blue gingham doll sized table cloth inside a dvd movie of my daughter's 2nd yard (complete with a message saying how blessed we were to have you share in Jordyn's 2nd birthday short videos clips pictures & music...all totaling 15 minutes and at the end of the movie I have made it look like Glinda is sending a special message to each guest.. "Close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself  "There's no place like home; there's no place like home; there's no place like home." ) bag of microwave popcorn (have to have popcorn with a movie) a 3" swirly lollipop plastic flower ring personalized 4-pak crayons & Diploma (Tin Man Scarecrow Lion Toto and Dorothy coloring pages tied up with raffia). Each basket has a blue gingham ribbon bow attached. I made the blue gingham table cloth with white lace trim.  Pink red and emerald green plates napkins silverware. Pink red emerald green and white (with sparkle) balloons.  I have made a small card to attach to each balloon that reads: "There's No Place Like Home" "please join in and celebrate Jordyn's 2nd birthday by making a wish of your own. (there a small picture of her on the card as well as a pair of ruby slippers all framed by a blue gingham boarded). Then it goes on to say: We'd love to know just how far our wishes traveled. Please send us an email with your thoughts for every 2 year olds' future. We'll treasure it forever.  I list my email addy for the replies. After cake games and gifts are done Each guest will get a balloon to release.  We'll all set them free at the same time. What will our neighbors think!?  The game will be Pin the Heart on the Tin Man.  I bought silver poster board and drew the handsome guy myself. I cut out red pink and emerald green foam hearts and used dimensional paint in coordinating colors to write each of the children's names on them. We'll use a sticky dots for the backs of the hearts. I also made the blindfold myself using blue gingham fabric.  I ordered the cakes one for our daughter and one for the guests. Jordyn's cake is an 8" fondant cake using a Dorothy Barbie.  The sheet cake is an ice cream cake with the yellow brick road and poppies on it. The Wizard Of Oz movie will be playing while everyone is having a good time.  My daughter will be wearing a handmade tulle tutu in shades of red with her ruby slippers and red glitter hair bows. We have to be different! Our thank you cards are the only thing commercially themed that was bought and I'm using Judy Garland stamps to send them out. Details details details!"
