Mexican Fiesta!  For my daughters 9th birthday, we had a mexican fiesta party theme. For the invitations I bought corn husk at the supermarket, I printed all the party information from my computer on vellum paper and glued them to the corn husk. I fold the husk to make look like a "tamal", and mailed each invitation on envelopes. For decorations i used white table cloths and a coloful table runner that i made out of fabric i got a the fabric store. For centerpieces i used a caly pot. I bought colorful ribbon (colors matched the table runners) and tied them around the clay pots. Then i made paper flowers using crepe paper in bright colors, i used skewers for the stems and them i glued a piece of foam in the bottom of the caly pots to hold the flowers in place. I also bought sombreros and plastic margarita glasses (oriental trading), i place a margarita glass on the tables and the sombreros on each chair. Each kid got to take home their own sombrero and margarita glass. Since my daughters birthday is in september it is always very hot so i rented a big enough tent, wich i decorated with plastic mexican cutout banner (oriental trading) all around the inside. For the food we served tacos and horchata (rice drink) i also had other drinks for the people that did't like the horchata (juice, soda,water). For games we had pin the tail on the donkey, cactus ring toss,and loteria (mexican bingo). We also had a pinata that i had made shaped like a big sombrero. the kids also hot to take pictures with a donkey, i could't find a real donkey so my friend drew a picture of one and it looked real good, i had the kids put on a sombrero and a mexican poncho, they each took a picture home with them. For candy bags i used mexican bags that i bought at a mexican store, i put candy, maraca pens, fiesta character bubble bottles, cactus pens and also a few mexican candy. for the cake my daugher and i baked cupcakes, the frosting was green, white and red, the colors of the mexican flag.
