Around the World party: For my daughter's 7th birthday, I sent invitations that were basic, just a picture of the world on the front and info on the inside. I drew a map of all the
continents and then charted the course we were going to travel. For each child I made a passport with their picture on it.
I also printed out flags of each country, so when we visited the country, they could put the flag sticker in their passport. I gave each child a small cardboard suitcase (purchased through internet) and this was to collect all of their souveniers from each country they visited. They also received a sticker to put on their suitcase. This would be their party favors at the end of the "trip". First, we visited Australia. The game played was the kangaroo hop. Kids were separated into teams, then had to put a balloon between their legs and hop like a kangaroo up and back. Of course all were winners. They received a small koala bear to put on their backpacks and a sticker of a street sign from Australia for their suitcase. (favors were found over internet also). Next we traveled to China, each child received chopsticks and a small cup of popcorn. When the game began, they were to turn over their popcorn and try to use their chopsticks to put it back into the cup. When they completed this game, they received "chinese jumpropes" to put in their suitcase. Also they received a sticker that said "friend" in Chinese. Next we traveled to Italy. Of course this was their lunch. They ate pizza and received a sticker of a pizza pie for their suitcase. Then we traveled to Paris. The game was to guess what the French word means. The kids were separated into teams again and I would give them a word in French and then give them three other words it could mean. Of course it was funny listening to them figure out what it meant. They received a small Eiffel Tower keychain as their souvenier and a sticker of the Eiffel Tower. Next they traveled to Mexico where we played the Mexican Hat dance and they received maracas when they were "out" and a sticker of Mexico. I made a globe pinata and filled it with treats. After we broke the pinata, we traveled to our final destination of Hawaii where we did the limbo and received leis and a Hawaii sticker. After that, they had cake and took home their suitcases filled with all the stuff from their travel. It was fun to plan and the kids had an even better time learning and playing.
