Paris Party 1 year
For my daughter's first birthday I wanted to do something fun and girly so we decided to have a French "Paris" theme. We just did this in the back yard - very simple really. The invitations had an eiffel tower on the front and said "Vous êtes invités" (french for you are invited). Details were on the inside. We rented an eiffel tower prop from a local vendor, and a few tables and chairs. We set up the tables and chairs and covered the tables with some flowery/girly fabric for tablecloths, and set the whole area up to look like a cafe. We planted some english garden flowers for centerpieces, which were given away to some of the adults (we just did a drawing for these). We made a sign for the cafe and hung up on the wall. We had crossaint sandwiches - for kids we made pb&j and cut them out with an eiffel tower cookie cutter. As an activity for kids, we used the "lourve" theme - set up a few easels and had an area where the kids could do art work. The favors were chocolate lollipops that were made with a mold I found on the internet, tied with a pink bow. Also, kids were given paints from the $1 store (got this idea from another suggestion on this site) and art aprons that were stamped with an eiffel tower or pink poodle. We had berets and fake moustaches for the kids for "photo opportunities". We also made out of plywood a large cut out of a pink poodle so the kids could stick their head through for pictures. We also had an area with a bunch of toys so there was stuff for the kids to do there also. The whole party was just 3 hours start to finish, a really good amount of time for my daughter to still be in a good mood after nap time!
