We had a petting zoo party for our 3-year-old daughter. We set up tents in the backyard (since, of course, it was due to rain on our big day).
Our daughter was dressed as the zookeeper, with a safari hat, khaki pants, brown sandals, safari shirt and a tag that read "Zookeeper Alyssa". We had the food part first so we wouldn't run into any issues with kids eating after petting the animals. We had pizza and a cake shaped like a barn. The partyware had zoo animals on it. We then went outside (under the tents) for the petting zoo show, with our shed made into a red barn which read "Welcome to Alyssa's Petting Zoo". She was the assistant during the show with the animals. All of the kids got to participate petting the animals and then feeding a big llama dressed in a tuxedo. We then played "Pin the tail on the cow" and opened up a pig pinata. We gave out small animal beanbags as prizes for the game and the pinata was filled with animal items (animal fruit snacks, etc.). The loot bags given out at the end of the party contained all animal items (horse stickers, animal cups with straws, animal squirters, animal beanbags and animal pencils). Everyone had a great time, despite the pouring rain.
