For my daughter's six birthday party (October) we took the children to a location that had a petting zoo, haunted house, hayride, and pony rides all at the same location.  They had a wonderful time and all the activities kept them well under control.  Instead of messing with all of those goodie bags I provided each guest with a caramel apple and a pumpkin.  They were thrilled.  I had many compliments on the pumpkin themes- cake included and the parents loved the apples instead of all of the candy.
